If you enjoy watching cricket, have you thought that you could more actively support the game by becoming an umpire or scorer and, at the same time, have a much better view of the match? Equally, if you feel that your best playing days are over but you still want to stay involved in cricket, have you thought of becoming an official in the game? If so and you live within or in the vicinity of Gloucestershire, why not join the Gloucestershire Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers (GACU&S).
GACU&S trains people to become qualified umpires and scorers and appoints them to matches if they so wish. Association members officiate in Womens International cricket and are on the County 2nd XI panel. Appointments are made to county and district youth matches at various age levels, ladies cricket, public schools and to the higher level of club league and cup competitions within the county. The aspirations of members of the Association vary from officiating at the highest level that their skill, ability and qualifications permit to wanting to umpire or score only for their local Club. Whatever role you might wish to have in the game and at whatever level you might wish to use your skills, GACU&S is here to support and advise you.
If you would like to become a qualified umpire or scorer in local cricket within Gloucestershire, please either contact the Association’s Secretary in the first instance (refer to the Officials’ page) or complete the membership application form on this page and e-mail or post to the Membership Secretary. As a new training candidate, you receive free membership of the Association for the first year.
Your details will be forwarded to the Training Administrator who will contact you with regard to attending the appropriate training course during the close-season. You will also start to receive the Association’s newsletter, “Not-Out”. Following the successful conclusion of your first training course, the Appointment Officers, or Scorers Officer as appropriate, will enquire if you wish to be appointed to matches and establish your availability.
