The Gloucestershire Association of Cricket Officials (GACO) in conjunction with GACU&S is planning to run a number of ECBACO Umpiring Courses during 2011/2012 across the County.
Each course will culminate in the ECBACO Level 1 exam which will provide the successful candidate with a foothold on the first rung of the ECB Officials ladder.

LEVEL 1A - is a two day course taking place at Spirax Sarco Ltd, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, on Sundays 11th & 18th March, 10.00am to 5.00pm. Applications to Steve Silk as above.
LEVEL 2 - ECBACO Level 2 training opportunities continue to be planned and advertised from the ECBACO training website and delivered nationally.

| INTRODUCTORY |
This is a 3 hour course for complete beginners (players, parents, spectators, umpires and scorers who are completely new to scoring). It is not necessary to be a member of the ECBACO to attend this course. There is no assessment or qualification at the end of the course but on completion the candidate will be able to explain:

| LEVEL 1 |
| This is a 12 hour course which covers all the fundamentals of scoring and is suitable for any club scorer. Prerequisites of this course are: a) Membership of the ECBACO b) A basic knowledge of scoring symbols and the different areas of the scoring record. If you are a complete beginner, it is advisable to attend the Introductory course before commencing on level 1. The course ends in an assessment test for which all successful candidates will receive a level 1 certificate from the ECBACO. The course fee includes your first year's membership of ECBACO and registration with ECBACO will take place when you register for the course. The course outline is:-

| LEVEL 1A |
| This is not a course but a demonstration of putting your level 1 knowledge into practical application in the scorebox. It involves bringing 10 scoresheets to an assessor for inspection and a professional discussion with the assessor. GACU&S are holding a preparation evening for any level 1 scorers who would like to know more about level 1A. The evening will comprise a group discussion on how the past season went and details of what is required to embark on the level 1A pathway during the 2012 season. |

| LEVEL 2 - there are no level 2 scorer courses available in Gloucestershire at the moment, but there level 2 courses available to Glos scorers in other parts of the South & West Region. Contact the GACU&S Webmaster for more details. |
| COMPUTER SCORING As with level 2, this is being run in the region rather than the county at present. Hampshire ACO are running the S&W TCS Computer Scoring Course at The RoseBowl on Saturday 7th April 2012 from 09:30 am to 4:30 pm. Cost is £100 BUT includes the TCS License Fee. If the candidate already has TCS then the course fee is reduced to £50.00. Assistance with the Course Cost and/or License Fee could be available from your Cricket Clubs or via the ECB (Paul Bedford) for Premier Leagues. The prerequistes for the course are at least a RSL 1A (Scorer with practical experience) scorer education and a laptop. This is NOT a scoring course but the use of Total Cricket Scorer.
