UMPIRE INTRODUCTORY TRAINING WINTER 2013 - GREATER KNOWLEDGE – GREATER ENJOYMENT!

It doesn’t matter what sport we talking about, whether you are a player, official or spectator, the more you know of the key elements of the sport, the more you will enjoy it.

To support this concept, this coming spring, GACU&S (Gloucestershire Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers) are running three separate 3-hour seminars across the county. These have been arranged in close collaboration with officials of the Gloucestershire County League (GCCL) and the Cotswold & District Cricket Association (CDCA). While we call it “An Introduction to Cricket Umpiring,” it is not just targeting potential recruits to umpiring, though we’d love to get you interested! It’s aimed at players, coaches, parents who get asked to help out and anyone who just wants to know more about the key role umpires play in our great summer game.

The seminar covers the important (and contentious) laws, the role of umpires and captains in maintaining the spirit of the game, and the duty of care to all players, but especially those under 18.

The courses are as follows:

The cost of the seminar is £8. If your club, or your child’s club are affiliated to either the GCCL or CDCA, then you can register through their officials. Alternatively, you can register directly with Peter Sawyer, the GACU&S secretary by email to pwsawyer@btinternet.com You can always call Peter on 01452 812911 for more information. There is no deadline for booking, but we do need to know the numbers in advance.

If you’ve got this far, go on, get in touch and come along. You won’t regret it!
